Public Enemy relançará discos clássicos em versão de luxo, com extras e lados B

Como parte das celebrações do aniversário de 30 anos do selo Def Jam, a gravadora planeja os relançamentos de It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, disco do Public Enemy de 1988, que marcou o estouro do grupo, assim o sucessor Fear of a Black Planet. Cada relançamento terá a versão original dos discos, assim como outro CD com faixas bônus, raros lados B e textos assinados por Questlove (da banda The Roots) e Andre Torres, editor-chefe da Wax Poetics.

O primeiro disco bônus de Nation of Millions inclui diferentes mixes de “Rebel Without a Pause” e “Fight the Power”, que apareceu no filme Do the Right Thing, de Spike Lee, de 1989. O outro disco é o DVD de Fight the Power…Live, com clipes bônus, como “Fight the Power” (também dirigido por Spike Lee), “Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos”, “Night of the Living Baseheads” e performances ao vivo.

“Isso revirou completamente a forma como os discos são feitos”, escreu Questlove sobre Nation of Millions. “Desafiou todo o conceito de reinvenção da indústria fonográfica.”

Edição 85 – Chuck D, do Public Enemy, fala do amor ao Brasil e defende Barack Obama.

Os discos bônus de Black Planet incluem remixes de “Brothers Gonna Work It Out” e “Can’t Do Nuttin’ for Ya Man”, assim como versões de “Fight the Power” com mais instrumentos, entre outras novidades. Veja a relação completa na lista abaixo.
